About Alex Valley
When I was ten I wrote a short poem. My mother sent it in to a weekly women's magazine and they published it. So I guess you could say I'm a published author.

I've always written, it was always there.

I grew up in a house full of books with a mother and father who were voracious readers. Ever since I can remember I was reading and writing. I had journals full of my thoughts. I would write short stories, and poems, but I lost all that because I willingly allowed myself to be sucked into the vortex that is adulthood.

At the end of high school, like most people, I had no idea what I wanted to be when I 'grew up'. I did know I wanted to go to university and I was lucky enough to have supportive parents who advised me to major in something I would enjoy. I selected a double major in English and Media Studies. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities it was time to study something 'useful' so I set about completing a graduate diploma in Business Studies.

It is only now, with two decades of business experience under my belt, that I've realised I always knew what I wanted to be when I grew up, I just didn't want to admit it.

I want to be a writer, so here goes!
